<reviewbody>................................................................................................... There's no contest. I don't know anything about the technical aspects of either Naks or Senns. But I know what I like. And the Naks make it for me...again. Though both carry a decent range, the Naks have a nice richness and fullness of sound. This could be do to placement. That is the unknown with Wise's Senns. I was also not expecting this AUD's dynamics to be quite as good as they are, with the Naks being Back Of Board. Sounds like Silberman is just in front of the board. That's a nice surprise. Those shotguns did their job. And being behind the board, I'm assuming Jeff had the mics way off the crowd. The ambience is very nice and the sound is excellent.

The Boyz are in fine form again tonight. The extra song in each set is a treat. After the torture of upping May 2nd to five stars (which it rightfully deserves,) I'm starting to get a bit frustrated trying not to hand out five stars to every show I review. But it's very hard denying this show the max, considering the 6th is the monster extraveganza we all know and love. Oh well, embarrassment of riches. So sad.

The three major reasons why I have no problem with five stars, besides being a great show, is that Jerry is in very good voice and they really do rip it up at the end. And there aren't any late clunkers to spoil the high energy level. If there's one thing I hate most of all, besides the horrible vocals and cheese that would come later, is a second set song that draws, drains ,saps, or sucks all the electricity The Boyz build up over three hours. There's nothing here tonight to ruin a perfectly good show. Thank goodness.
My only little beef is that they paused for a second to recombobulate themselves for J.B.Goode. Running straight through would have been totally kick-ass.
Hey, anybody know a perfectly awful show I can give two stars too?</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>I was 15 when I saw this show, it was also my first "L" experience. The whole experience blew my mind and changed my life forever. Over the years I have seen some great shows; however few can compare to this night. I remember the scene outside and inside the civic center as clearly as yesterday. I now live very close to the venue and think about '81 and '82 with Jerry and the boys each time I drive past.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>My first show was in Lake Placid in '83. Many shows followed. 4 Kids later, a wife and dog and no access to recordings sent me into a dry spell. I actually thought that life was over when Brent died. We have all moved to new places. Music in general lost its meaning for me for years. I just thought that every body forgot. I met an old friend who plays music. I learned about the new scene. The scene that the Dead cultivated for so long. All of those Maxell UDXL 2 Tapes that got destroyed were at the forefront of my memory again. What could I do to regain that Level of interest. Start over? I learned how to work a computer, enough to be dangerous, talked to some friends and found the archive. I miss the Audience tapes. I love Sound boards but nothing beats the energy you get from the crowd. I've listened to thousands of tapes. Thats how I got by for years. This tape(Recording,File, Whatever..)is among the best I've ever heard. I don't know much about the digital world but I do know that who ever started this site and the people who add to it have made me happy. This is an amazing show. Come inside and crawl around for a while.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>The first set is smooth and sweet top to bottom and gives hints of what's to come. I don't give "best ever" opinions because music is so subjective and the dead produced so many best ever moments in my life that I simply can't go there BUT this second set is absolutely one of the finest I've heard from the early 80's period. One climactic moment after another in the first 70 minutes or so...wow!
Thanks Doug for this incredibly clear and sweet capture of the show - if there were more than 5 stars I'd give them in a New York minute. Peace</reviewbody>
